Take A Hike!

Family hiking has become a lost tradition. Families are competing with social media, video games and the instant gratification of in-home entertainment. Life time memories and a healthy life style can be gained by taking up hiking.

WebMD  shares that hiking outdoors has plenty of perks. "Research shows that hiking has a positive impact on combating the symptoms of stress and anxiety," says Gregory A. Miller, PhD, president of the American Hiking Society. "Being in nature is ingrained in our DNA, and we sometimes forget that.

An active family is a family that spends time together outdoors, and not just at the ballpark. A family needs time alone engaging in open conversation while being physically active. Nothing brings out the inquisitive nature of a child than walking through nature itself.

Tell your family to, “Take a hike!"

In a USA Today article, Tammy York writes that one of her treasured moments was taking a hike with her two children. She says, "It was better than any movie they'd seen," York says. "They were so enthralled." Studies have shown that hiking releases body chemicals, such as serotonin and adrenaline, that result in more positive thinking.
